How to use the spinner wheel
Add your entriesType or paste names, one per line, up to 1,000. Paste a column from a spreadsheet, or start from a template.
Make it yoursAdd *2 after an entry to double its chance. Pick an emoji or a picture, a title and wheel colours.
SpinPress Spin, click the centre of the wheel or press the Space bar. The pointer lands on the winner and the name appears large.
Keep it fairTurn on โRemove the winner after each spinโ so everyone gets a turn before anyone repeats. Undo puts the last change back.
Show it or share itPress F for presentation mode on the projector, or copy a share link with your list inside it.
Fair by design
How the randomness works
Your browser picks the winner with cryptographic randomness before the wheel moves, and every slice is drawn to scale. Nothing is hidden, and nothing is decided on a server.
1. Random bits from your browserEvery spin starts with crypto.getRandomValues, the source browsers use for security keys, not the predictable Math.random.
2. Rejection samplingValues that would make some entries slightly more likely are thrown away and drawn again, so there's no modulo bias.
3. Slices sized by weightAn entry with *2 gets twice the slice and exactly twice the chance. There are no hidden weights.
4. The wheel lands on the pickThe winner is chosen first and the wheel animates to it, so spin length and theme can't change the result. History keeps a timestamped record.

Classroom ideas for the wheel
Three routines teachers run with a wheel every week.

Cold-calling without the groan
Put your class list on the wheel and turn on โRemove the winnerโ, so every student is called once before anyone is called twice. The wheel picks, not you, which takes the sting out of being chosen.

Fifteen thankful prompts for morning meeting or a Thanksgiving circle: a friend who helped me, a place I love, a gift that isn't a thing. Grades Kโ12.
Yes. Each spin uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) with rejection sampling, so every slice's chance matches its size exactly. The result is picked before the animation starts, and the wheel simply lands on it.
Can someone rig the wheel?
No. There are no hidden settings and no server deciding the result: everything runs in your browser, and every slice is drawn to its true size. If you want an entry to come up more often, give it a visible weight like *2, which makes its slice bigger for everyone to see.
How many names can I put on the wheel?
Up to 1,000 entries. Paste a whole column from a spreadsheet; blank lines are skipped. With hundreds of entries the slices get thin and long names are shortened on the wheel, but every entry keeps its fair chance and the full name appears in the result.
Can I add pictures or emoji to the wheel?
Yes. Start any entry with an emoji, or use the emoji button next to an entry (in the Rows view) to pick one, choose a picture from your device or paste a picture link. Pictures from your device stay on your device: they aren't uploaded and aren't included in share links.
How do I make some options more likely?
Add an asterisk and a number after the entry, like Pizza *3, or use the weight buttons in the list. That entry gets three times the slice and three times the chance. Weights from 1 to 99 work, and the slice size always shows the real odds.
Is it safe to type my students' names?
Your list stays in your browser and is never sent to our server unless you sign in and choose to save it. A share link carries the names inside the link itself, so only share it with people who should see them. Students never need an account.
How do I save or share my wheel?
Use Share to copy a link with your entries inside it; it never expires and needs no account. The embed code puts the wheel on Google Sites, Canvas or Schoology. To keep wheels and class lists across devices, create a free account (adults 18+); Pro makes cloud saves unlimited.
Save your wheels and class lists
Your wheel already lives in this tab and in its share link. A free account (for adults 18+) keeps wheels and class lists across devices. Pro ($3.99 a month or $29 a year) makes cloud saves unlimited, removes ads and adds your logo.
